Adopting electronic health records contributes to enhanced care for patients and ensures better service. EHRs provide up-to-date and complete information about patients, enable quick access to relevant patient data and improve efficiency, productivity and safety of healthcare in general. However, patients tend to generate many EHRs with various data at different care services, hospitals and organizations during their lifetime.

NextGate system to manage EHR data quality is a valuable instrument able to integrate with a hospital or healthcare institution’s in-house system. It allows to collect the most recent and relevant information about a patient from different EHRs and create compilations with full patient data.

Digiteum analytics, design and development teams took part in NextGate project, provided UX design services and created a flexible, simple and functional UI for this web system, including custom search, displays for various types of patient data and source EHRs and records manipulation.

Flexible and functional UI

The main challenge was to create a flexible user interface that would enable a seamless user experience and at the same time could sustain custom configurations of the system during its integration with other systems – Nextgate clients’ systems. Therefore, the team came up with an easy-to-use, clear interface with minimum dependencies between UI fields and parts.

Today, the NextGate data quality manager provides varied functionality sets across different user roles. The system allows creating a Single Best Record – a compilation of the most relevant and complete patient data from various EHR sources. Also, it enables parallel record comparison with manual data correction and validation for authorized users. The Workspace feature allows users to mark records as favorites for express access. Meanwhile, Access Manager provides differentiation of user roles by assigning users to certain groups with determined access to patient data and system functions.

All in all, UI for NextGate data quality manager enables smooth user experience across various system functions and features and ensures this system can seamlessly integrate into any healthcare infrastructure.
